Well, the Fragments are finally completed. The score is now up for downloading on the scores page. Parts will be available after the May 4th premier for anyone interested in performing it.

Rule of 4′s?

So some updated info is in order, Ty Forquer will not be performing Cellular Hallucinations on February 12th, but February 4th. All other info is the same (SCENE Metrospace at 7PM).

Also, the premier of Chthonic Fragments has been scheduled. It will be taking place at Magnolia West High School in Houston Texas on May 4th. Time is still TBA.

The Waiting is the Hardest Part

By Ben, January 10, 2010

The penultimate draft of the Fragments is done and sitting on my desk waiting for comments from the conductor. It’s funny how, looking back, I had such a hard time getting the ball rolling in terms of coming up with ideas and motivic cells for the piece – it took several weeks – and now I’m sick of waiting to hear about any last revisions. I just want to finish the layout and move on to the next challenge – mostly because I’ve already started the Jitter programming. Yes, the next piece will have a rather large video component.

Just in time

By Ben, November 10, 2009

I’m finally done with the draft of Chthonic Fragments for symphonic band. The quick breakdown – 21 instruments, 35 pages, 292 measures, and a grand total of 9.5 minutes. I’ve lost track of the amount of coffee that went into its creation, but it was probably [definitely] a lot. It’s big.

Now, time for some sleep before I get up and head to Mississippi and EAJJ tomorrow.
